Get a sharpie and write your scouts name on everything: Book, Hat, Uniform Shirt, Neckerchief, Belt, etc!
If you will be sewing the patches on the uniform, I recommend using a glue stick to help position the patch. The glue will go away during the next wash. Alternatively use painters tape over the top of the patch, which is removed after sewing
Also the Meinder's Scout Shop in OKC will sew badges on your uniform as well.
No More Sewing! This kit contains badge adhesive pre-cut into the shapes of the badges needed to complete your new Cub uniform. The kit contains a Placement of Insignia uniform guide that shows where to put the badges and detailed application instructions. You even get extra adhesive for additional badges that can be cut to any shape. It also contains a product sample for a Badge of Rank to give as a gift to a fellow Scout. Badge Magic is machine washable but can be easily removed to replace, re-position, or recycle your badges. Available at the scout shop or on amazon
When trimming your belt to fit remember 2 things
Your child will still grow, so leave extra on
Trim the belt from the side without the metal tip
Remove the buckle
Trim the circled end
The trick to keeping adventure loops on the belt is to bend the flanges on the back of the first belt loop you put on, so that it won't slide past the metal tip, and when putting on subsequent belt loops, add them from the side of the buckle by removing off the buckle and sliding them in from that end.
That way when your scout removes their belt at the end of the day, the belt loops don't all go flying!
Tired of losing Neckerchief slides? Me too! Tie an overhand knot in the Neckerchief and slide the Neckerchief Slide over the knot.
Roll the Neckerchief
Tie an overhand knot in the Neckerchief and slide up the knot to the appropriate place
Slide the Neckerchief Slide up over the knot (Back side)
Slide the Neckerchief Slide up over the knot (Front side)
Bend the flanges in to help keep the Neckerchief slide from sliding off
Also, if you misplace your slide, feel free to make your own! Slides can be made out of paracord, carved wood, and so much more!
